Fred Cobb

I live on Fulton Street in NoPa. I build things and try and foster connection and community.

Right now

I’m trying to get my friends to exercise with me

Not as a service and not as a business. Just as a thing that reliably happens instead of a thing we keep meaning to do. So there’s a calendar, and there are two things on it.

Book either more than a day ahead and I’ll be there, or join something already on the calendar. Four measured routes and a track a mile away; a bench and a pair of adjustable dumbbells in my room.

Things I’ve made

I solved Math Dice, and the box has the wrong rules on it

The published rules leave it unsolvable two rounds in three. Two extra symbols more than double that. Every roll, every target, one worked answer, and the whole thing checked twice.

A puzzle a day in the browser, or the whole proof with the solution books.

Also made

I solved the route to ride every street in San Francisco

1,058 miles of city, 1,629.7 miles of actual riding, and 139,036 feet of climbing — nearly five times Everest. Cut into 44 rides you can download and take one of.

No form, no “I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.” It goes straight to me and I read it. If we’ve met once and you want to do something, that counts as a good enough reason to write — you don’t need a pretext.
